The Carlton Trail Railway Company (“CTR”) owns and operates over 279 miles of former Canadian National (CN) track in two segments in northwestern Saskatchewan. The Eastern Line runs north from Saskatoon to Prince Albert, while the Western Line runs north from North Battleford to Meadow Lake.

The CTR serves the forest products industry, moving pulp and paper, oriented strandboard and lumber from Prince Albert and the Meadow Lake area. The CTR also supports the grain and specialty crops industry from primary elevators, a pulse processing plant and by moving producer cars. Major customers include Weyerhaeuser, Millar Western, Meadow Lake OSB Ltd., Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, and Pioneer Grain.
